nPM6001 is a dedicated power management IC (PMIC) with six power supplies – four highly efficient DC/DC buck regulators and two LDOs. It is designed to support complex applications with multiple power domains requiring independent control.
nPM6001 can be used with any power source. If a rechargeable lithium ion battery is used in the design, it must be connected to a PMIC with a battery charger and power path management, such as the nPM1100 device.
The buck regulators can deliver up to 500 mA of current at selectable voltage outputs ranging from 0.7 – 3.3V, 2.1, 2.7 or 3.0 V. The LDOs can supply up to 15 mA fixed current at 1.8 V, or up to 30 mA fixed current from either 1.8 V or 3.3 V.
The following system management features support safe and efficient application design.
- Watchdog - separate from the main host provides an extra layer of security
- Hibernate mode - useful for applications that use sensors or beacons that wake up periodically then go to sleep
- Thermal protection - the device can be programmed to provide an interrupt when the die temperature rises above a programmable limit, giving the host a chance to reduce the power load and prevent the temperature from reaching the shut-down level
