System on Chip resource requirements

This section describes how the SoftDevice, including the Master Boot Record (MBR), uses the System on Chip (SoC) resources. The SoftDevice requirements are shown for both when the SoftDevice is enabled and disabled.

The SoftDevice and MBR (see Master Boot Record and bootloader) are designed to be installed on the nRF SoC in the lower part of the code memory space. After a reset, the MBR will use some RAM to store state information. When the SoftDevice is enabled, it uses resources on the SoC including RAM and hardware peripherals like the radio. For the amout of RAM required by the SoftDevice see SoftDevice memory usage.
