Running the examples provided in the nRF5 IoT SDK requires a modified SoftDevice. This modified SoftDevice supports L2CAP Connection Oriented Channels, which is needed for transport of IP packets. This SoftDevice can take a GAP peripheral role.

The S1xx IoT Prototype 2 SoftDevice is included with the nRF5 IoT SDK at <InstallFolder>components/softdevice/s1xx_iot. The documentation refers to this SoftDevice as "IoT SoftDevice".

This SoftDevice is a technology prototype only. Therefore, it should never be used in production. Make sure to read the license agreement at <InstallFolder>components/softdevice/s1xx_iot/s1xx-iot-prototype3_licence_agreement.pdf before you use the SoftDevice.
